Bloomfield College Announces Director of the Center for Career Development

Ms. Diana Mendez has joined Bloomfield College as Director of the Center for Career Development.

The Center for Career Development at Bloomfield College supports and empowers students to be active participants in the career development process. The office prepares students to make informed decisions regarding their future by providing comprehensive resources, advising, programs, and access to internships, employment, and graduate school opportunities.

Through strategic partnerships with the campus community and employers, Career Development is the center for student professional development at Bloomfield College.

“Bloomfield College is very fortunate to secure a very talented career coaching professional to lead the Center for Career Development,” said Dr. Patrick Lamy, Vice President for Student Affairs. “I am thankful for the search committee’s hard work and the selection of Diana Mendez for the position. We are excited to have her on the Student Affairs’ team.”

Ms. Mendez is a career development and student affairs professional with 11 years of experience in higher education. She previously worked as the first Vice President of the Metropolitan New York College Career Planning Officer's Association (MNYCCPOA), where she planned full scale conference meetings for over 300 career service professionals in the NY Metro area. She also served NYU's Wasserman Center for Career Development as an Assistant Director where she developed student employee training and evaluation strategies and managed an award-winning, first-generation student mentorship program. Ms. Mendez’ experience managing large internship programs comes from her time as an Assistant Director at Pace University, where she managed one of the largest internship programs in the country and won the Jefferson Award Bronze Medal for Public Service.

Throughout her career, Ms. Mendez has been deeply committed to enhancing students' university experience by promoting, developing, and executing experiential education programs for diverse student populations.

Ms. Mendez received a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.
