Bloomfield College, PBA Raise Money for Veterans During Tank Pull Challenge

By Alicia Cook

Bloomfield College and the Bloomfield PBA came together and participated in The Tank Pull Challenge on Sunday, June 23, in Clifton.

Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, and chaired by John V. Hughes, according to the website, The Tank Pull Challenge is a physical test of endurance. Competitors must make a determined effort to overcome the impossible odds of moving an immovable object – an 80,000-pound tank mounted on a flatbed truck.

Taking part in the Tank Pull benefits the veterans, with 90% of the proceeds going toward the military wounded, and 10% going toward local veterans. To date, the event has raised over $1 million for wounded warriors.

Ashton Corley, Business Operations Analyst for Finance and Administration, was team captain and Dr. Marcheta P. Evans, College President, attended the event in support of veterans, Bloomfield College/Bloomfield PBA team, and Bloomfield Township.

The Bloomfield College/Bloomfield PBA team raised $1,500 and placed third in the “lowest combined weight competition”. Other participants included members of the Bloomfield Police Department.

The College has taken part in The Tank Pull every year since 2012.
